The Abril winery can look back on more than 270 years of history. With the construction of the new manor building in 2012 at the foot of the Enselberg, a new era was ushered in. The architecturally sophisticated building secures the future of the traditional family winery and sets an example for high-quality and sustainable viticulture - in harmony with the Kaiserstuhl natural garden. More than ever, respect for nature determines the work in the vineyard and cellar.
The family winery deliberately opted for ecologically controlled viticulture in accordance with the provisions of the ECOVIN Federal Association. With a vineyard area of around 20 hectares, they are the largest organic winery in the Kaiserstuhl. Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Blue Sylvaner account for up to 85 percent of their vineyard area.
Living for and with wine is a job that the family do with pride and passion. The winegrowers, reading assistants, cellar masters and oenologists all have a great feeling for wine - each in their own special way. But the young Abril team is also characterized by team spirit, experience and intuition.
Outstanding, award-winning wines with top ratings in renowned wine guides are the fruits of their work.
Natural factors such as the climate, the soil, the location of the vineyard, the age of the vines and their health have a decisive influence on the character and quality of the wines. That is why Abril is committed to ecologically controlled winegrowing out of appreciation for nature and thus to the consistent renunciation of the use of chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. The family uses organic and mineral fertilizers as well as legumes and herb seeds to feed the vines.
Ecology also determines the development of their wines in the cellar. They use gravity to gently process the grapes and do not use genetically modified yeast or products from genetically modified organisms when storing them.
In the vinotheque, the Abril wines can be tasted with a wonderful view of neighboring Burkheim and the Vosges in Alsace...
...alternatively, you can of course also order the wines from us in the shop
